Profiles of primary aromatic amines, nicotine, and cotinine in indoor dust and associated human exposure in China

Despite the widespread use of primary aromatic amines (AAs) in consumer products, little is known about their prevalence in house dust. In this study, we investigated the occurrence of 35 AAs and two tobacco chemical markers (nicotine and its breakdown product cotinine) in 119 samples of house dust collected from five provinces in China. Ten of the 35 AAs and [nicotine and cotinine] were found in >80% and 100% of the samples, respectively, at concentration ranges of 29.1-19,200 (median: 700 ng/g) and 23.2-22,400 (4600) ng/g, respectively.

Cannabidiol enhances verbal episodic memory in healthy young participants: A randomized clinical trial

Cannabis contains a multitude of different compounds. One of them, cannabidiol - a non-psychoactive substance - might counteract negative effects of Δ-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol on hippocampus-dependent memory impairment. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of vaping cannabidiol on verbal episodic memory in healthy young subjects. We used a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized crossover trial in 39 healthy young subjects.

Cigarette smoking and medical students

Physicians have an important role in helping smokers to quit tobacco or e-cigarettes, but if a doctor is a smoker himself, his antismoking influence may be deficient. Since a significant percentage of medical students are smokers, it is worth influencing them to stop the habit. The best way is to introduce tobacco modules, stimulating students to participate in anti-smoking campaigns, offer non-smoking hospitals, non-smoking university campuses, non-smoking dormitories, and to provide medical assistance to student smokers who wish to quit.
