The tobacco industry has historically targeted flavored products to specific U.S. consumer segments, including young people, women, and systemically marginalized groups based on race, ethnicity, or sexual/gender identity.
The special issue on Biomarkers of Nicotine and Tobacco Dependence reviews the science for precision treatment of nicotine dependence and future opportunities for research on biomarkers for inclusion in tobacco product cessation and switching clinical trials to advance translation. This overview summarizes the articles contributed to the special issue by leading researcher in field of addiction.
Importance: The US Food and Drug Administration's Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) prioritized its enforcement efforts against nontobacco, nonmenthol (ie, sweet)-flavored cartridge e-cigarettes in February 2020. Within-person e-cigarette initiation, continuation, and switching behaviors among youth are unknown following CTP's prioritized enforcement efforts.

Most studies are gender blind regarding the effects of chronic nicotine administration on oxidative stress in brain and liver. So we designed this study to determine the differential effects of chronic nicotine administration on parameters of oxidative stress and antioxidant status in brain and liver of male and female rats as well as on liver function tests (LFTs) and lipid profile parameters.
