Injuries from electronic cigarettes, and cigarette/cigar-related paraphernalia, NEISS, 2012-2022

There is a need to determine the role of smoking/vaping related products in Emergency Department (ED) product-related injuries by age and sex to determine if interventions are warranted. These products include the combustible tobacco products' paraphernalia to light them (CTPP), electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), and electronic non-nicotine delivery system (ENNDS).

Effects of combustible cigarettes and heated tobacco products on immune cell-driven inflammation in chronic obstructive respiratory diseases

Since long-term effects of heated tobacco products (HTP) on the progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are unknown, we used COPD mice model to compare immune cell-dependent pathological changes in the lungs of animals which were exposed to HTP or combustible cigarettes (CCs).

Enhanced Novel Object Recognition and Spatial Memory in Rats Selectively Bred for High Nicotine Preference

This study examined the influence of genetic background on cognitive performance in a selectively bred high nicotine-preferring (NP) rat line. Using the novel object recognition (NOR), novel location recognition (NLR), and Morris water maze (MWM) tests, we evaluated object memory, spatial memory, and spatial navigation in nicotine-naive NP rats compared to controls.

Comparison of the Predictors of Smoking Cessation Plans between Adolescent Conventional Cigarette Smokers and E-Cigarette Smokers Using the Transtheoretical Model

Recently, there has been a shift in smoking patterns among adolescents, with a decrease in the prevalence of conventional cigarette smoking and an increase in the use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes). The harmful effects of e-cigarettes are remarkable, highlighting the need for proactive interventions for adolescent users and smoking cessation that consider the characteristics of both conventional cigarette smokers and e-cigarette users.
