Repercussions of Smokeless Tobacco on Buccal Mucosa: A Community Based Observational Study at a Tertiary Care Centre in Western Rajasthan

Background: Tobacco is consumed mainly as smoking or smokeless tobacco [SLT]. "Smokeless tobacco" (SLT) term is used for the consumption of tobacco mixed with other constituents in form of chewing, spitting and dipping. Consumers of smokeless tobacco chew the products and spit out the juice that builds up in oral cavity which leads to various malignant and pre malignant lesions of oral cavity.

Assessing the Causal Relationship between Waterpipe Smoking and Bladder Cancer

Rates of waterpipe use increase with very little data reporting any potential health consequences. The current study, a large case-control study, of 4,194 patients from Iran denotes an elevated risk of bladder cancer in exclusive waterpipe smokers compared with non-users. Additional studies are needed to further understand the risk waterpipe smoking has on bladder cancer.

Multi-endpoint in vitro toxicological assessment of snus and tobacco-free nicotine pouch extracts

'Modern' oral tobacco-free nicotine pouches (NPs) are a nicotine containing product similar in appearance and concept to Swedish snus. A three-step approach was taken to analyse the biological effects of NPs and snus extracts in vitro. ToxTracker was used to screen for biomarkers for oxidative stress, cell stress, protein damage and DNA damage.

"Tobacco-free nicotine" electronic cigarette perceptions and use among adolescents and adults in five New England states

Introduction: More brands are using tobacco-free nicotine (TFN) in electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and these products are becoming increasingly popular. The term TFN and claims about its properties can mislead consumers about the harms and addictiveness of TFN e-cigarettes, which may increase initiation of these products among non-smokers or influence current smokers' decisions to adopt TFN e-cigarettes as a harm reduction measure.
