Development of transtheoretical model measures for assessing decisional balance and temptation to vape

Introduction: Vaping is common among young adults in the United States. The Transtheoretical Model (TTM) has demonstrated success in smoking cessation efforts; however, it has not been comprehensively applied to vaping cessation, and core TTM vaping measures have not been developed.

Dexpanthenol exhibits antiapoptotic and anti-inflammatory effects against nicotine-induced liver damage by modulating Bax/Bcl-xL, Caspase-3/9, and Akt/NF-?B pathways

Chronic tobacco use can lead to liver damage and inflammation due to the accumulation of various toxins in the body. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the molecular mechanisms of nicotine-induced liver injury, the caspase cascade, and the Akt/NF-?B signaling pathway, as well as the protective effects of dexpanthenol (DEX).

Nicotine Diminishes Alpha2-Adrenergic Receptor-Dependent Protection Against Oxidative Stress in H9c2 Cardiomyocytes

Introduction: Nicotine is a major component of cigarette smoke with various detrimental cardiovascular effects, including increased oxidative stress in the heart. Agonism of ?2-adrenergic receptors (ARs), such as with dexmedetomidine, has been documented to exert cardioprotective effects against oxidative stress and related apoptosis and necroptosis. ?2-ARs are membrane-residing G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that primarily activate Gi/o proteins. They are also subjected to GPCR-kinase (GRK)-2-dependent desensitization, which entails phosphorylation of the agonist-activated receptor by GRK2 to induce its decoupling from G proteins, thus terminating ?2AR-mediated G protein signaling.

Exploring the association between the proximity to and density around schools of retailers selling IQOS products and youth use of heated tobacco products: evidence from the 2020-2021 COMPASS study

Introduction: Heated tobacco products (HTPs) are novel tobacco products that may appeal to youth. This study explored whether HTP retailer proximity and density to secondary schools were associated with youth use of HTPs in four Canadian provinces.
