Introduction: Increasing number of current cannabis users report using a vaporized form of cannabis and young adults are most likely to vape cannabis. However, the number of studies on cannabis vaping is limited, and predictors of cannabis vaping among U.S. young adults remain unclear.
Background: e-Cigarette (electronic cigarette) use has been a public health issue in the United States. On June 23, 2022, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued marketing denial orders (MDOs) to Juul Labs Inc for all their products currently marketed in the United States. However, one day later, on June 24, 2022, a federal appeals court granted a temporary reprieve to Juul Labs that allowed it to keep its e-cigarettes on the market. As the conversation around Juul continues to evolve, it is crucial to gain insights into the sentiments and opinions expressed by individuals on social media.
Alternative splicing products of AIMP2 and AIMP2-DX2 (DX2) have been reported to be associated with human lung cancer. In fact, DX2 expression is elevated in human lung cancers, and DX2 transgenic mice also develop lung cancer, in particular small cell lung cancer (SCLC).
Background: Tobacco smoking is the leading cause of preventable death and disease worldwide, with over 8 million annual deaths attributed to cigarette smoking. This study investigates the impact of cigarette smoke and heated tobacco products (HTPs) on microglial function, focusing on toxicological profiles, inflammatory responses, and oxidative stress using ISO standard and clinically relevant conditions of exposure.
Introduction: Flavored tobacco products increase appeal and lower barriers to nicotine addiction for young people. We compared environmental, psychosocial, behavioral, and demographic characteristics between youth who started with flavored and non-flavored (i.e., tobacco-flavored) combustible tobacco products (CTPs).
Introduction: Nontobacco nicotine products, including e-cigarettes and vaping, are marketed as healthier alternatives to tobacco. However, the literature on nontobacco nicotine dependence (NTND) is scarce. It is important to analyze the influence of these products as they pertain to medical and surgical postoperative complications. This study hypothesizes that patients with NTND will experience more postoperative complications.
